I use some stuff I had from when I was in the Army. The wicking base layer and waffle top and bottom thermals. Love the content Chad. Thanks for putting this out there as it not only improves the fishing experience but is also a safety concern.

I use those same base layer tops with Omni heat (but mine have the 1/4 zip and longer sleeves with thumb holes). I thought they seemed goofy when my wife got them for me last Christmas but now they are a staple of my fall-winter layers. In fact, I was wearing them while fishing today. Great and informative videos at the perfect time of year.

Love the videos like this. At the moment I'm a "fair weather yaker " simply because I don't have the appropriate gear yet and these type videos help me know what i need to start gearing up 👍

Great content! Firm believer in choice of equipment just like you. I just got a NRS gasket top to go with my bibs but the neck is choking me. I am a big dude too and I hear you can stretch the rubber gasket to make it not so tight. What did you use to enlarge the neck. I have an XL and that is as big as they make.

The cold weather videos have been cool, been looking at a dry suit or dry top and glad I hadn't made the purchase yet. Solid info from a experienced point of view. Thanks Chad

    Chad,

Great rundown so many beginners who participate in wintertime sporting activities underestimate how much heat our bodies produce. Ensuring you wear clothing that allows airflow between the layers is the key to staying warm, cool, and comfortable.

First let me thank you for this video series. I am new to Kayak fishing and want to trout fish from my CoosaFD in NC, Ga,Tn and Al. You speak about fleece socks how much of a shoe size increase do you need during extreme cold weather? When I was in Alaska, USAF, we used felt liners with our muckalucks would they be better than fleece? My concern is the rivers I am speaking of are extremely cold in the summer and more so in winter. Would the fleece socks adequately protect your feet while wading, using the NRS shoes you use?

Nice video. Great info. Another good way to burp the air out is to leave the relief zipper open and walk out in the water. Just don't too far. : )

David Feucht Ha, you are correct. That’s how I do it, but Boat Ramps are slick so I didn’t really want to recommend that. 😜

Great video and helpful information. Do you ever wear gloves on really cold days? My hands tend to suffer more than anything else and I have not found a good solution yet.

Thank you for responding. I will take advantage of the membership opportunity. Kind of hard to get to some of the tournaments given the opportunity tempo we are dealing with in the military. As a member I am assuming you are notified about upcoming tourney's?@Chad Hoover

We move them around to give opportunities to everyone and there were several in NC last year. We have the monthly states challenges there every month and you are centrally locates amongst a lot of great events. In addition, there are a lot of great benefits to being a KBF member outside of the number of tournaments that are close. Also, consider finding your local partner group or
Series as they have a lot of local events much closer to you most likely .
