70, Alone, Abandoned. Waiting at a Railway Station in Mumbai. The Story of Leelavati

To Provide you all an update on this story: Railway officials, RPF and others have reached out to Leelawati jee. She was kept in Railway waiting rooms and given proper bedding and food. Railway has made arrangements for her to travel to Delhi by Rajdhani express in AC 2 tier. Once she reaches Delhi railway is trying to reach out to NGO's who can take this case further. More than money this dadi needs compassion care and of course our blessings.

My heart literally melts reading all your comments. Take care of your parents. They may get finicky once they age (its natural as their brain cells get weak), but we need to ignore their tantrums as we ignore of our kids.

@Rohit If you & I have lived a perfect life without any mistakes, then we have the right to judge others. Unfortunately, we cannot take the place of God & judge others when we have committed many mistakes in our own life, right?... If you were not forgiven the many mistakes in your life by your parents, God & by those around you then you have a lot to answer for. Fortunately, they have forgiven you brother, no matter how big or small your mistake have been. And you enjoy the freedom of their love & forgiveness. If a lady in Africa can forgive the man who killed her entire family & treat him as her brother, then we can forgive & pray for others as well. Take Care & God Bless.🌿🪔🔥

God is Love, God will forgive, so long as the children repent. If her children do not repent then they will receive the same treatment when they get old from their children. This is not God's punishment. It is the wrong doing of the children not looking after their elderly parents. They pay the price of their own wrong doing.

70 year old , abandoned by her sons .With nothing but a donated Parle-G biscuit packet on Bandra station.

She has lost 4 children but has earned so many sons and daughters across the country .
Thank you to everyone who’s been supporting since the beginning .
    Pls donate on :

She was the one caught on camera. Just imagine 1000s of elderly men and women like her who are on the roads and affected by lockdown. I heard in the news that around 80 people have died on the Shramik Trains so far. Also shame on that son who only care about money and left leelavati on the road. God bless Leelavati. Also kudos to this media crew for helping her! This is so sad.

This 70-year-old lady has 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughter, but finds herself miserable because none of these children are willing to take care of their mother, and demand money from her. They call her lunatic !!! This story is very common and seen and heard in most families , specifically when a spouse passes away. I have seen and heard similar stories with children too, where parents have passed away.

She clearly misses her husband a lot. She seems to have gone through depression due to his death. And her stupid children instead of empathising with her, calls her mad.
She is not mad, she just need some attention, love and care.
Losing your partner after spending almost half a century with him can be devastating. Society somewhat undermines the emotions of elderly people and very easily labels them troublesome or mad.
Even if they are a little irritating, their children should bear with them because these elderly people just deserve it.

This is really sad to listen her story, what kind of sons are those who can't even take care of their mom. And moreover she is still satisfied with whatever she got. No one can stop crying after listening her story. A Pakistani from USA

It is amusing how children turn beasts towards their own parents. How do you even gather courage to beat your old fragile mother,at the age when you should be sheltering and providing for her,you decide to throw her out.May be they haven’t heard of KARMA.I am glad the journalist has done a fantabulous job by posting her story however what makes me a bit worried is journalists touching the lady’s face to wipe the tear, she herself is protected by wearing the gloves but not the lady,I wish she was a bit considerate towards the old lady before touching her face few times.I understand it can be difficult to control your emotions in such a situation but we do have another DEVIL to fight with in the name of ‘corona’,as much as we are worried and careful about ourselves,we should be worries for others LIVES too.🙏 Kudos to people who have come out in her support(big slap on her children’s faces).

Barkha is doing her job sincerely... wish our PM, our finance ministers, our CMs, our Human Welfare Ministers and our Medias do their jobs sincerely, there will be absolutely no pain. Everuthing will be perfect. Not one person will suffer. India has the financial, human strength with brains. If well planned and executed, we will b d best. Not a big deal at all for India. Sincerity is require at every stage.... we public will have to overcome the 'Chalta Hai' attitude. We need d best n I strongly believe India is rich n capable enough to give d best.

Not all parents are good to their kids. Some parents are extremely abusive to the point that kids need a doctor. If she is a good mom, she definitely doesn't deserve this type of treatment.

OMG! Cannot imagine the plight of this mother who went all the way from Delhi to take care of her son who was sick and now that the son is doing fine he beats and trows his old helpless mother on the streets.. Don't these children realise that it is a mother who gives birth to them and sacrifices her life and everything to bring up her children..All I can do is pray for this poor elderly woman and her well being.. Barkha you are a real angel.. God bless you and your work abundantly I pray.. Lots of love from Dubai..
